Love
The relationship between signifier and the signified can be arbitrary or iconic. In this example red rose is a signifier and love is signified. Red rose and the feeling of love is an example of arbitrary relationship because rose connotes the feeling of love. The opposite can be crown and the Queen, where the crown is signifier and the Queen is signified. This relationship can be described as iconic.
